The precision laser cutter consists of a Nd-YAG laser mounted on a
micro-manipulator microscope such that the optical paths of the laser and
imaging system are coincident. This geometry alloys the operator to shape
and cut samples at locations of specific interest that are identified in a
conventional light microscopy image. Samples of thickness up to 200 mm are
cut routinely.
This facility is open to qualified users through IRG 2.
