The MRSEC Facilities Network is a nationwide partnership of NSF supported MRSEC centers designed to provide support to researchers in the broad area of Materials Research in academic, government and industrial laboratories around the world.
Bruker Esquire-LC Ion Trap
The Bruker Esquire-LC ion trap is routinely used for analysis of
compounds and simple mixtures in solution. It is interfaced to an
Agilent 1100 HPLC system allowing for chromatography with mass
spectrometry as a second detector. The instrument is capable of simple
MS measurement and also extremely powerful multi-stage tandem mass
spectrometry (MSn).
This capability allows ions to be selected and fragmented in the gas
phase, thus opening the possibility to obtain structural information
about the parent compound. This capability is primarily used for
sequencing peptides and proteolytic digests of proteins.
