The MRSEC Facilities Network is a nationwide partnership of NSF supported MRSEC centers designed to provide support to researchers in the broad area of Materials Research in academic, government and industrial laboratories around the world.
Computational Facility

FACILITY FEATURES
Hardware
  • Two computational 'Beowulf' clusters, one composed of 40 Pentium 4 3.2Ghz PCs and the other made from 32 AMD 2800+ PCs with Myrinet.

    A cluster of workstations has been setup as a dedicated compute cluster - i.e. a type of Beowulf machine. The cluster is comprised of:

    • A dual-CPU 2Ghz Xeon Head Node
    • 58 nodes with 3.2Ghz CPUs and 2GB RAM
    • A fast ethernet switch connecting the nodes via a private network

    The computers are running Fedora Linux 'Core 1'.

The MRL is a National Science Foundation funded center - and it's important that published work include an acknowledgment of support.
